Sage becomes first FTSE100 company to open its doors to Google Business View Share this article

Sage Headquarters (North Park), in Newcastle upon Tyne, has become the first FTSE100 company to open its doors to Google Business View. Sage is the world’s third largest supplier of business software and has over 6.1m customers worldwide. Click on the following link to view inside Sage Headquarters.

Designed by Cundall alongside id Partnership, North Park has around 1,500 employees on site. Cundall provided building services, civil, structural and fire engineering, along with BREEAM Assessment, lighting design and transportation.

Stephen Clough, Partner said, “I’m delighted that Sage has welcomed Google into North Park to show off one of the landmark buildings of Newcastle.  The project took 2 years to build, and it looks as good now as it did 10 years ago.”

The £57m development provides 32,000m2 of highly serviced modern office accommodation comprising six blocks radiating from a central glazed atrium. The modular design allows a further four office blocks to be constructed in the future with minimal disruption to the occupants of the existing building. The headquarters was built at the centre of the 500 acre green field site of Newcastle Great Park to the North of the City.

Sustainability and energy efficiency were important considerations from the outset and the development was one of the first in the North East to comply with Part L standards. Conditions within the office space are now controlled using passive chilled beams integrated with the suspended ceiling system. Exhaust air from the offices is recirculated through the atrium to assist in maintaining comfortable conditions in this space. Standby generation and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) have been incorporated in the design to provide the security of electricity supply required by a major IT organisation.

Business view was made possible by three days of still photography, resulting in 5,000 images which then had to be digitally stitched together.

To help celebrate the launch of Business View for Sage North Park, Sage has created a virtual treasure hunt, with the winner receiving two nights stay at a hotel, dinner for two and tickets to a show at Sage Gateshead. The competition closes on 3rd October 2014. Find out more here.
