Following the successful delivery of the London 2012 Olympic Whitewater facility, Cundall has been appointed by Whitewater Parks International (WPI) to work with them on the Wero Project at the Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau (Auckland), New Zealand.
Cundall will provide engineering and hydraulic design input to WPI’s commission for their whitewater design, creating a dynamic international level rafting and canoe/kayak paddlesport venue to be combined with a state of the art education/cultural events centre.
Cundall and WPI collaborated to design Lee Valley Whitewater Centre the London 2012 venue which has seen great success as both a sporting and a leisure facility. The award winning project at Broxbourne, Hertfordshire had a number of innovative features including a dual-channel facility that greatly reduces energy usage enhancing the legacy of this Olympic project.
“We are delighted to be working with Whitewater Parks International again.” Explains Damien Dungworth, Senior Associate, “The creation of an exciting and exhilarating white water venue is an engineering challenge that is both complex but very rewarding”
