Major project win for Cundall in Hong Kong Share this article

Cundall is delighted to have been appointed as the lead consultant to provide an online Carbon Assessment Tool for the Construction Industry Council (‘CIC’) in Hong Kong.

The CIC aims to standardise the assessment method for evaluating and benchmarking the carbon performance of a construction project. Cundall will develop and implement an online carbon assessment tool which will be used by industry practitioners to evaluate the carbon performance of their projects in Hong Kong.

With our expertise and professional industrial insights, we strive to develop and implement the Carbon Assessment Tool to facilitate emission measurements, encourage carbon management activities, and hence, reduce costs and burden to the ecosystem.

Jonathan Yau, Associate Director and Sustainability lead in Hong Kong said ‘We are pleased to be part of this exciting and innovative project. Using our knowledge and expertise to benchmark the carbon performance of construction projects means being able to inform design and construction decisions with embodied and construction phase carbon data which we hope will drive change at scale in Hong Kong. The Hong Kong Government aims to reduce total emission by 26-36% by 2030. With that in mind Cundall will develop this tool to provide practical insight and solutions for meeting these targets for the industry.’

Amie Shuttleworth, Global Director of Sustainability comments ‘This tool will be transformational for the Hong Kong construction industry. This very much aligns with Cundall’s ambition to be agents of change for a sustainable world, as well as our new One Planet, One Chance target to prioritise materials that have low embodied impact on all our projects, we are therefore delighted to be delivering such a project.’
