Cundall’s specialist lighting design team, Light4 has been appointed to provide lighting design for an urban regeneration scheme on the Adelaide Riverbank. This appointment will see Cundall’s global lighting team who has delivered innovative public realm projects such as Noma Earth Tubes collaborate with Cundall’s local Adelaide team and local contractor Outside Ideas.
The proposed design centres around people and their experience of light and sound. The feature lighting elements will be interactive on a personal, local and global level. On a personal level a visitor can use their phone to create a light show from their music collection or create a light and sound show when they play an instrument. Locally the lighting elements will all work together to support events at venues such as the Adelaide Oval or Festival Centre. Globally, the lighting elements can be illuminated for specific days and events such as World Aids Day, Earth Hour, World Blood Donor Day.
“To reflect the culture of Adelaide, the key influencers of the design are people, events, natureand heritage” said Andrew Bissell, Director, Cundall Light4 “We have involved a number of stakeholders to learn about, discuss and comment on the design concepts and with this collaboration I am confident we have delivered an exciting design fitting for this urban regeneration scheme.”
