Graduate Engineer, Jonathan Smith, has been shortlisted for a Young Achiever Award in the Constructing Excellence Generation for Change Awards.
These awards aim to celebrate outstanding examples of excellence and best practice within the engineering sector.
Jonathan joined Cundall in 2015 and is an integral part of Newcastle’s Structural team, working on a range of high profile projects.
His positive impact since joining has initiated a number of changes in his department. For example, he developed a new design calculation which he then demonstrated to his Civil, Geotechnical and Structural colleagues in all UK offices through a CPD session.
Jonathan has shown commitment to the engineering industry outside of work too. In September, he was named as an ICE President’s Apprentice which has taken him on many visits and events around the UK. He is also a member of the Northern Powerhouse Panel and is currently working on a Northern Infrastructure Strategy report which is due to be published in Summer 2017.
In addition to this, Jonathan is also a PlanBEE mentor, a member of Engineering Education Scheme and the Treasurer of IStructE North East Young Members Group.
The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at Hilton NewcastleGateshead on Friday 28th April 2017.
