2016 is an important year for Cundall as it marks our 40th year in business. Established in 1976 in Newcastle and Edinburgh, the Founding Partners, Michael Burch, Rick Carr, Geoffrey Cundall, David Gandy and Bernard Johnston shared a common vision; to create a leading multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy with great design at its core. Have a look at the video where some of the Founding Partners answer questions from staff about how it all started.
Over the last four decades, through dedication on our projects and for the clients we work with, that dream has become reality. The practice has developed into an award winning international consultancy, with over 650 staff operating from 20 locations worldwide.
We are celebrating our milestones and achievements throughout 2016 with a series of events, initiatives and conversations - showcasing our project successes, debating best practice and industry standards, demonstrating newly developed technologies and celebrating with our clients, partners, staff and families.
Alongside the activities planned across the world, we have also challenged ourselves to volunteer a total of 40,000 hours of our time, allowing us to coordinate our existing charitable work whilst ensuring we make a lasting impact through our anniversary year.
Our people are essential to our success and Cundall has recently been upgraded to Silver as an ‘Investor in People’. This standard celebrates our approach to developing our staff and recognises our focused mechanisms and support for continued career-progression. This also follows on the heels of our Celebrating Construction Award win for Leadership and People Development.
Having joined the One You campaign, sustainability and wellbeing will always be at the heart of what we do. It is this commitment to responsible business practice that has continued throughout our 40 year history. Cundall is the world’s first consultancy to be formally endorsed as a One Planet Company by sustainability charity BioRegional and our London office, at One Carter Lane, is one of the first buildings in Europe registered to pursue the WELL Building Standard® - an industry initiative putting health and wellbeing of occupants at the centre of building design.
As we celebrate our 40th anniversary, we will continue to look ahead to the future by remaining clever, friendly engineers, undertaking key projects and investing our time in initiatives that create a positive impact on the environment and communities around us.
