Today, on International Women in Engineering Day, the Telegraph has published its list of the ‘top 50 women in engineering under 35’.
With hundreds of nominations, the calibre of entries was high and covered a large range of sectors including construction, aerospace, automotive, defence and manufacturing.
We are absolutely thrilled that Ozak Esu, engineer in our Birmingham office, has been named in this esteemed list.
Here is what Ozak said about her nomination and the honour of being listed;
‘I am sincerely honoured to make this list of truly inspirational engineers shaping our modern-day society. Without seeming dismissive of my accomplishments, hard work, and passion for sustainable engineering development; my contributions to engineering, and society are possible because of the tremendous support and encouragement I receive from my family, friends, tutors, and PhD supervisors at Loughborough University, and of course my wonderful colleagues at Cundall. Thank you all very much!
In celebration of International Women in Engineering Day, I will share this quote that truly inspires me daily: “When you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you. You reach back, and you give others the same chances that helped you succeed” – Michelle Obama. The UK’s projected shortfall in the number of engineers can be addressed if more engineers reached back, and supported young people from diverse backgrounds. I succeed as an engineer today because I am continuously well-supported. You too can inspire the next generation of engineers by making time. In doing so, you build, and develop many interpersonal skills that help shape you, and your professional career positively.’
