Ulster Hospital has won the Best External Environment Design Award and received Highly Commended in the Acute Hospital Development Award category at the Building Better Health Care Awards 2017 (BBH).
BBH Awards are prestigious award which celebrate outstanding achievements and innovation in the healthcare sector and recognise the people leading the way in enhancing services across the sector.
The Best External Environment award represents an outstanding external space that enhances the overall experience of patients, staff and visitors. This can include external building works, landscaping, artwork, and the improvement and creation of external areas such as carparks and public access points.
The Acute Hospital Development award represents the finest exemplar of new-build or refurbishment project within the acute hospital sector that has been designed to create a positive, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients, visitors/carers and staff.
Cundall completed building services engineering for the redevelopment and new build programme of the Inpatient Ward block at Ulster Hospital which provides state of the art facilities helping to transform patient care in the 21st century. The 7-storey building provides twelve inpatient wards comprising four operating theatres, recover wards, endoscopy suite, pharmacy, catering facilities and 288 bedrooms each with a private en-suite bathroom.
