Cundall competed at Build Qatar Live, a 48 hour virtual design collaboration, with Ryder Architecture, BIM Academy, Mott MacDonald, NBS, Turner + Townsend and Colour Urban Design to form ‘Team BIM Academy’. We are delighted that ‘Team BIM Academy’ was named the winner of The openBIM Build Qatar Live 2012.
12 teams from 41 countries took part in the two day competition, the brief was to design the ‘Museum of Architecture’ for Doha. The key component of the brief will be built complying to ‘Zero Carbon’ built environment, in line with the goals of the Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC) and in compliance with LEED and the Qatar Sustainability Assessment System (QSAS).
When announcing the overall winner, Tony Ryan, Group Chief Executive of ASite and judge of BIM Qatar Live 2012 said: “Fantastic, an absolutely fantastic effort – it was just incredible watching you guys work. And the amount of social connectivity and communications that you guys were putting out also – as an aside was incredible. We enjoyed following you.”
Cundall thoroughly enjoyed the experience, Greame Padgham, Cundall’s Global BIM Leader said: “We have learnt a lot through this competition, it was great to see other team’s designs. The experience has reinforced our recognition for using BIM as a technology to revolutionise the way buildings are designed.”
