Cundall has signed up to be Green Star 2014 thought-leaders in an aim to support Green Building Council of Australia to develop a new Green Star – Design & As Built rating tool, move the Green Star rating tools online and implement key improvements to the certification experience.
Cundall has been involved in a wide range of Green Star projects and is passionate about improving the rating system to benefit the construction industry and further push the boundaries in sustainable design.
“We are looking forward to assisting the GBCA in the development of the tool” Explains CEO of Cundall, Simon Wild “The Green Star rating tool has had a huge impact on the industry since its launch in 2003, however it needs to change with the changing definition of what sustainability means”
Cundall has always been keen to listen to feedback on various green ratings, last September as part of Green Building Week, they held two cool wall sessions asking “Green Ratings – what’s the point”. With concern that the current negativity in the industry about green rating systems was overshadowing the positive benefits that rating systems can create, they ran a workshop to open up peoples' thinking about the positive changes that green ratings systems have created and what they could create in the future. Participants were from a wide range of stakeholders in the construction industry including developers, contractors, architects, suppliers, engineers, ESD consultants and project managers. “We are looking forward to collaborating with the other thought leaders and creating change together” added Simon.
