After last year’s exceptional achievement of becoming not just the regional but National Consultancy Practice of the Year for the Constructing Excellence Awards. Once again Cundall have been shortlisted in the North East Regional Awards.

Cundall provided multidisciplinary services for Durham Gateway project which involved the extension of the Bill Bryson Library and the construction of the Palatine Centre which provides the University with a state-of-the-art student services facility. The project overcame a number of challenges to be delivered on-time and on budget.
Cundall competed at Build Qatar Live, a 48 hour virtual design collaboration, with Ryder Architecture, BIM Academy, Mott MacDonald, NBS, Turner + Townsend and Colour Urban Design to form ‘Team BIM Academy’. Andrew English, Principal Structural Engineer who worked on the 48 hour BIM Qatar Live competition said “Working on this 48 hour international competition was an amazing experience, personally this has helped me further develop my knowledge of BIM and I have put this into use on each project. Working over intensely over this short period we had to ensure communication within our team was constant for it to be a success. By using a fully integrative and collaborative approach, we exceeded our target to of a single award to win the overall BIM Qatar Live Challenge”.
Gemma Stronach, has worked with Cundall for seven years, she has been involved in a wide range of projects and is actively involved in various activities outside her job description, including helping with the design and construction of the Tim Lamb Centre, providing talks to school students to encourage a career path in engineering and being a mentor as part of the Cundall Arkwright Engineering Scholarship.
The Leadership & People Development category, recognising companies who best define and demonstrate improvements resulting from targeted leadership development and training across the workforce. Carole O’Neil our HR Partner, commented “These awards demonstrate Cundall’s commitment to our staff and their development. Cundall encourages all of our staff to develop their knowledge, and apply it on each project they are involved in”
The winners will be announced on Friday 10 May 2013 at the Marriot Hotel at Gosforth, Newcastle.
