Cundall is delighted with the completion of the Inpatient Ward block at the Ulster Hospital, a major acute hospital serving the Belfast area. The new development provides state of the art facilities that will help to transform patient care for the 21st century.
Cundall completed building services engineering design which included significant upgrade of site infrastructure to enable the proposed phasing. The development forms part of the refurbishment and new build program to make the hospital suitable for future health care provision in Northern Ireland.
The 7-storey building provides twelve inpatient wards comprising four operating theatres, recover wards, endoscopy suite, pharmacy including aseptic manufacturing suite, catering facilities and 288 bedrooms, each with a private en-suite bathroom. A key feature of the design was the access to natural light and the amount of privacy afforded to each patient in their single room.
Cundall Partner, Stephen Maddocks, commented: “The project is a major redevelopment in the Belfast healthcare sector and will play a key role in improving quality of patient’s experience in the future.”
