Cundall announces two of the first WELL Accredited Professionals Share this article

Kavita Kumari, Senior Environmental Engineer (London, Europe) and Melanie Louie, Senior Engineer (Hong Kong, Asia) are two of the first to be awarded the WELL Accredited Professional™ (WELL AP) credential through the International WELL Building Institute™ (IWBI).

The WELL Building Standard® is the world’s first building standard focusing exclusively on human health and wellness. It marries best practices in design and construction with evidence-based medical and scientific research – harnessing the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and wellbeing.

Cundall is passionate about improving the way we live and work and we are committed to delivering a space that enhances occupant’s health and quality of life. Our London office, One Carter Lane is one of the first projects in Europe to be registered for the WELL Building Standard® accreditation, targeting GOLD. Through this great success, we are also reviewing our office in Hong Kong to see if we can apply the same principle.

Kavita Kumari says: “I am glad that the use of our knowledge into the application of green and healthy materials, and biophilic design principles within our working space has created a cleaner, fresher indoor air quality environment. We can see the new space has encouraged enhanced interaction of staff with the living things and natural surroundings within the occupied space. The WELL Building Standard® has been a positive wellbeing driver of change and provided common sense guidance aligned to specific features.”

Mel Louie commented: "The concept that buildings can influence the health and wellbeing and productivity of humans is an exciting challenge and something that wasn’t considered as a focus until now. We are now able to support and facilitate the WELL Building Standard® to our projects and I can’t wait to see how this can be applied in the environment in Asia."

Cundall is one of the few organisations to be able to apply practical experience to deliver a WELL certified project and we have seen first-hand changes since our commitment to deliver a healthy, efficient and future-proof space. For more information on how Cundall can help your project achieve WELL certification, please contact Kavita Kumari or Melanie Louie.

As an organisation, Cundall has recently applied for the role of WELL Assessor and Performance Verification Services. If successful, this will allow us to undertake the building assessments on behalf of the International WELL Building Institute. This will give us a greater understanding of the workings of WELL, allowing us to better advise clients on the requirements.
