Cundall and the Supply Chain Sustainability School collaborate to transform Australia’s supply chains Share this article

Cundall has signed up as the first Technical Partner for the Australian Supply Chain Sustainability School. This collaboration will see Cundall and the School collaborate to assist contractors in understanding the environmental, economic and social impacts of their supply chains and helping them make informed decisions to reduce these impacts. By applying sustainable procurement practices, contractors can influence the whole of the construction and infrastructure supply chains across Australia to have real, positive benefits, whilst still achieving the desired aesthetics and quality.

Cundall is an ideal Technical Partner for the School due to their in-depth knowledge and application of sustainability in the construction industry including the various rating tools, guidelines and policies which reference aspects of the supply chain.

“Through our 13 years working in the built environment throughout Australia, we have identified barriers to sustainable procurement including lack of transparency, lack of certification or reliable data, suppliers not understanding their environmental or social obligations and a lack of drive from various stakeholders to make a responsible choice with regards to social and environmental sustainability” explains Hannah Morton, Cundall’s Sustainability Team Leader in Sydney. “The Supply Chain Sustainability School is helping to overcome these barriers by providing access to free learning resources to upskill the supply chain so that they understand their own impacts as well as the opportunities to deliver best value”.

Cundall will use their expertise in the construction industry to assist the School in providing relevant materials and contribute technical content.

“We are always seeking ways to make sustainable choices easier for everyone in the industry, so when we had the opportunity to work closely with the Australian Supply Chain Sustainability School, we jumped at the chance” adds Hannah.

“The School is delighted to work with industry leaders such as Cundall on providing the necessary learning resources to help their supply chains – and the supply chains of innovative projects across Australia – become more sustainable”, says Robin Mellon, Chief Executive Officer of the Supply Chain Sustainability School. “And ‘sustainability’ is no longer just about measuring energy, water and waste, but covers issues such as financial stability and resilience, human rights and modern slavery, and workplace diversity and social value”, he explains. “Since partnership is the new leadership, we welcome Cundall on board as Technical Partners to the School, and look forward to transforming both procurement and projects in the coming years”, concludes Mr Mellon.
