The new £12 million Arc Leisure Matlock (previously known as Central Area Leisure Centre) opened (informally) at the end of August and has since had over 55,000 visitors. The leisure centre was officially opened on 21 October 2011 by Lord Sebastian Coe.

Features of the leisure centre include an eight-lane swimming pool with movable floor and a 50-station fitness suite.

Cundall provided geotechnical, structural and civil engineering services to the scheme which won Most Sustainable Remediation Project at the 2010 Brownfield Briefing Remediation Innovation Awards.
