Cundall is delighted to have been shortlisted for the Green Building of the Year award for the American University of Sharjah Campus Service Centre project at the 2015 Emirates Green Building Council awards.
The award celebrates a finalised building in the MENA region where construction and completion has respected the highest sustainability standards and included innovation in design and process.
Cundall was employed in the capacity of lead consultant where we provided the full design, project management, cost consultancy and site supervision services for the campus service centre, youth centre and new service block projects. There were no sustainability regulations in force in Sharjah at the time of the design of this project but the university wanted to achieve an LEED silver level of sustainability.
The Campus Service Centre was designed, evaluated and constructed to LEED Silver/Gold standard, and was used as the catalyst for implementing sustainable initiatives within the other elements of the development, and indeed subsequent projects on the site.
Richard Stratton Managing Director for MENA comments “The university is so pleased with the development that they decided to enter the project for an EGBC sustainability award, a decision we wholeheartedly supported. We are excited the project has been shortlisted for such a prestigious award and are delighted that as a consequence of our sustainable design, the Campus Service Centre has received this recognition. The project is the product of a shared passion amongst the whole project team and is proof that fully integrated sustainable development is both affordable and practical. I am very proud of the contribution my team and Cundall made towards the success of this project”.
