100 Green Star Projects Infographic

Cundall is celebrating being the first consultant to deliver 100 Green Star certified projects in Australia. Acting as the Green Star Accredited Professionals, Cundall’s team has been working on Green Star projects since the rating system was released in 2003. 

Award Entry: Q3 Academy

The Q3 Academy is a new build 1560 place secondary academy on the site of the former Langley High School in Oldbury, West Midlands. It’s the first new school to be built in Sandwell in 10 years. 

Award Entry: Engineering Building, University of Leicester

The University of Leicester is undertaking works to replace the roof and glazed facades of the iconic and internationally famous Grade II listed Engineering Building. The building was designed by Sir James Stirling and James Gowan and completed in 1963. 

Award Entry: Well Court

Cundall worked on the redevelopment of this tired 1950’s five storey office block, turning it into stunning luxury apartments with views over the city of London and roof decks looking over St Pauls. The demolition of the existing roof and high level plant rooms enabled the addition of a two storey lightweight steel framed superstructure and created two duplex penthouses. 

Award Entry: Friars Mill

Cundall provided full civil and structural engineering design to the redevelopment of Friars Mill. Situated on the banks of the River Soar in Leicester, this redevelopment has transformed the former historical Donisthorpe Woollen Mill into profitable office units. 

Award Entry: Newark Academy

The Newark Academy development, situated in Newark, Nottinghamshire, is a 1,320 capacity mixed secondary school with sixth form provision. It is formed principally of two new buildings, the main teaching block and a modern sports block.

LEED Gold Case study: SAHMRI

The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) is the first project in South Australia and the first laboratory building in Australia to achieve LEED® Gold certification.  This detailed case study explains how this was achieved.

BREEAM case study: Cobalt Data Centre 2, Newcastle

Cobalt DC2 is the first data centre in the UK to achieve a BREEAM 'Outstanding' rating. The Cobalt Data Centre Campus offers over 10,000m2 of data hall space, making it one of the largest carrier neutral wholesale co-location campuses in the North.

Parkville gem transformed: 369 Royal Parade, VIC

Riverlee is one of Victoria's leading property development and investment companies. It acquired 369 Royal Parade in Parkville in 2009, and has carried out significant upgrades and refurbishments to increase the overall performance of the building.


Sustainable refurbishment: 55 St Andrews Place

Cundall was appointed as Principal Consultants for the refurbishment of a 1960s government office from a 1 Star to a 4 Star building. Avoiding conventional approaches, Cundall delivered the base building upgrade for under £400/m2 and the fit-out for under £250/m2.

Sustainable Remediation Project 2010: Central Area Leisure Centre Scheme

The CALC scheme was recognised as the most Sustainable Remediation Project at the 2010 Remediation Innovation awards and was also shortlisted in the best conceptual design category. Cundall's geotechnical services range from feasibility and desk studies through site investigations and geotechnical design, remediation and verification, hydrogeological and geothermal assessments.
