Whilst legislation and green ratings tools have done much to drive improvement in operational energy efficiency, the broader impacts of resource consumption and waste have often been overlooked. With the Construction industry accounting for 40% of global material consumption, and concrete manufacture alone 7% of global GHG emissions, attention is unsurprisingly starting to focus strongly on these aspects.
Lee Leston-Jones, Structural Partner and IStructE Structural Futures Committee Member, will provide an insight into how we can integrate sustainability into Structural Engineering design focusing on Lifecycle Assessment of Embodied Impacts, and the principles of the Circular Economy.
