Seminar: Design and build your ‘Workplace of Tomorrow’, Birmingham, 11 November 2014

What contributes to designing and building the ‘Workplace of Tomorrow?’

Overbury and Cundall had a discussion on ‘Building the workplace of Tomorrow’ which was followed by a tour of the newly re-designed Cundall office. This breakfast seminar took place on Tuesday 11th November from 8.30-10.30am in our Birmingham office

Giancarlo Gaglione, Head of Innovation at Overbury and Morgan Lovell and Andrew Parkin, Acoustics Partner at Cundall shared their knowledge and experience of creating optimal workplaces which integrate technology, to produce smart working spaces that satisfy staff needs and boost productivity.

Giancarlo Gaglione, encouraged everyone to think of technology as a ‘kit of parts’ for organisations. He discussed the theory that technology should not be thought of as a ‘one-size fits all’ approach, but rather, the needs of  each department and staff member should be considered and planned for before investing in the latest gadgets.

Andrew Parkin gave a first-hand account from the recent move of Cundall’s Birmingham office. Cundall used its in-house mechanical and electrical engineering disciplines, lighting designers, acousticians and IT and audio visual experts for the design and fit-out of its new office. Andrew shared experiences of how technology has been integrated into the new workplace. He talked through how lighting, acoustics and communications have improved collaboration and made dramatic changes to the businesses’ efficiency. This was then followed by a tour of the Cundall office giving the audience the opportunity to take a look for themselves and be the judge - ‘is this the workplace of tomorrow?’
