Event: Light4, Neon Sonnets, Manchester, 12 May 2016

Cundall Light4 will be taking part in Manchester After Hours. An evening of cultural events to support one of their main attractions.

On the night of the 12 May, John Rylands Library opens its doors for a very special evening and invites you to celebrate the life and works of William Shakespeare, marking 400 years since the death of the bard.

As night falls, the beautiful library will be alive with sounds from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and uniquely lit by Cundall Light4.

Bespoke projections will be designed to suit each individual sonnet or reading and will follow the performances as they move around the spectacular library’s space. Stunning visual and audio performances will guide you through the Library’s beautifully historic spaces, concluding in the neo-gothic splendour in the Historic Reading Room.

The lighting installations are inspired by the performances on the night, whether it be written text or classical music, each design has been tailored to suit. The lighting will aid the performances by adding a subtle layer of projected light. This simple enhancement will not fight with the architecture nor overpower the music. Gobo projectors with custom patterns will adorn the spaces and have been collectively designed by the Cundall Light4 team.

Immerse yourself in the lights and sounds for a contemporary look at one of the country’s greatest writers.
