Panel: People productivity in places, Green Sky Thinking, London, 16 May 2018

For this year's Green Sky Thinking, Cundall joined-up with UCL to share years of research on the impact that design has on human performance and wellbeing.

Alan Fogarty, Sustainability Partner at Cundall, will compared the qualitative and quantitative aspects of post occupancy evaluations and Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ). He introduced Cundall’s new productivity mapping tool to evaluate live buildings and provide figures on ROI. He then provided an overview of a new research project within Cundall’s London office where live data is being used to track and evaluate staff satisfaction.

Dr Marcella Ucci, Senior Lecturer and Course Director of the new MSc ‘Health, Wellbeing and Sustainable Buildings at the UCL Institute for Environmental Design and Engineering, gave a brief talk about the links between wellbeing, productivity and IEQ. She then talked about the pilot study she has been working on with Mitie and DaeWha Kang Design who have partnered to create a “Living Lab,” an immersive biophilic workspace aimed at measuring the impact of the work environment on employee wellbeing.

James Reynoldson of Mitie and DaeWha Kang of DaeWha Kang Design spoke about the particular opportunities and challenges of combining cutting edge design with sensor technology and frameworks for developing and measuring mental wellness in the workplace.
