Conference: PPTR 2014, Kruger National Park, South Africa, 7-12 September 2014

Cundall's Mary Haw presented at the 5th International Symposium on the Physiology and Pharmacology of Temperature Regulation (PPTR).

The PPTR 2014 scientific programme included a mix of symposia, lectures, a debate, posters, and a student competition, and allowed participants to experience the splendour of the park through an exciting social programme.

Mary presented "Comfortable Cities: Designing for thermal comfort in the built environment".

This presentation explored the opportunities of designing the built environment to a wider band of comfort and a new set of metrics that must be understood and quantified to create spaces that will draw people to them throughout the seasons. Furthermore, the psychological parameters of thermal comfort need to be understood further to enhance thermal comfort beyond physical controls.
