Caimin McCabe and Andrew Thompson spoke at the Health Facilities Design and Development Victoria Conference held in Melbourne on the 17-19th August. Cundall has delivered a wide range of leading healthcare projects both in Australia and around the world including the multi-award winning Melbourne Children's Hospital, Hong Kong's first specialist Children's Hospital and the major redevopment of Ulster Hospital in Belfast. Case Studies in Engineering and Sustainability for Pre-loved Hospitals, by Andrew Thompson
Providing great engineering services and sustainability solutions to green field projects is “Business-as-Usual”, but existing healthcare projects are another level of challenge. Cundall present a range of Case Studies from near and far, both large and small, looking at some specific challenges encountered and how they were overcome. Examples presented range from a biomass boiler in Ireland to patient centred controls in London.
Applying Green Star at the New Royal Adelaide Hospital, by Andrew Thompson
The New Royal Adelaide Hospital had strong sustainability credentials built into the brief by the state government, and Green Star was a requirement for the bidders. In this session, ESD and Green Star accredited professionals Cundall present the challenges and opportunities of applying the tool for the first time on a large scale primary healthcare facility, and on working to ensure that the process not only delivered a great environmental outcome, but also value for the diverse range of stakeholders.
