Cundall engaged in the HKGBC x Jockey Club - Green and Smart Community Buildings Project on 16 November 2018 (Friday). Jonathan Yau, Associate Director, spoke at a seminar on the topic “Enhancing Health and Wellbeing through Office Renovation”.
Cundall shared quantitative results from our offices which have achieved WELL certification. WELL certified offices have seen increased labour efficiency, improved employee cognitive function and decision-making performance, and a more productive work environment. Further, salary expenses in a WELL certified building typically surpass operating costs of the office building over its life span, resulting in lower overhead costs. This explains the cruciality for employers to emphasis health and wellbeing in workplaces for retention, support, and attraction of key staff. As designers, Cundall aims to create projects that positively impact both the environment and the building occupants.
During the seminar, Cundall also shared case studies on how sustainable and healthy design facilitates the creation of innovative and successful operating built environments. Cundall also shared the importance of Indoor Environment Quality monitoring and surveys in providing vital feedback for improving retrofits.
Cundall has a strong ambition to build greener and positive work environments within the community. Through engaging and collaborating with two of the most influential organisations in Hong Kong – The Hong Kong Green Building Council (HKGBC) and The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC), we are confident that our knowledge and expertise could be well-shared among the community and facilitate greater capacity of NGOs.
