Cundall supports International Women in Engineering Day 2018

This Saturday (23rd June) is International Women in Engineering Day (INWED), recognised across the world as a day to celebrate the accomplishments of female engineers and to raise awareness of what the Engineering industry could offer to all aspiring women engineers.

In support of INWED, Cundall has been hosting a series of events.

Boardroom of the Future
This was a two-hour workshop hosted by Carole O’Neil, HR Partner, in our London office on Thursday 14 June which brought together 11 of our “Next Generation” leaders, to explore what our business might look like in the future.

The workshop attendees reflected on our boardroom gender mix (which is currently 70% male/ 30% female) and debated what our ‘Boardroom of the Future’ could look like if we flipped the gender balance.

Carole O’Neil commented, ‘We wanted to explore what the future might look like, so we decided to “flip the balance” and bring together a cohort of (mostly female) future leaders to debate a key business issue.’

What is going to be the Biggest Engineering Challenge of the next 50 years? – IMechE
This event on Monday 18 June focused on introducing young people to the different kinds of engineering, showing them the breadth of engineering fields they can get involved in. The students were issued a competition brief for a project they work on in teams during the event. The teams presented their ideas at the event, and winners were announced at the end of the day.

Celebrating Women in Engineering– IET
An evening “lates” style event was held at the IET on Tuesday 19 July, on the topic, Celebrating Women in Engineering. There was a central social space for networking with food and drinks throughout the evening. Cundall operated a stall showing great engineering projects female engineers have worked on.
