Who are you and what do you do?
I’m Takwa, a Graduate Electrical Engineer in the Dubai office. I joined Cundall in early 2020 after obtaining my bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. So far, I’ve been working on electrical design for various projects across the Middle East.
What or who inspired you to be an engineer?
It’s been something I’ve always known I wanted to do! My mum is an engineer, so I was always exposed to the industry growing up. I was also very much into science and technology at school, I always enjoyed a good challenge, a problem to solve or a project to build.
What made you decide to join Cundall?
My first impression of the Cundall office was a really good one. I had the chance to chat with several of the engineers during the interview process and they were all very open and welcoming. I also appreciated Cundall’s value for sustainability, creativity and innovation. I felt like working here would be very rewarding and interesting, I wasn’t disappointed!
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I honestly love how there’s a huge variety of tasks within the projects at Cundall. The work is never repetitive and there are always several ways to do things which keeps things exciting. I also enjoy the collaborative environment we have set up in our office. We’re always growing and developing together, there’s always something new to learn every day.
What are you most proud of in your career to-date?
Since I haven’t been in the industry for very long yet, I’m most proud of how fast I’ve picked up and developed a wide range of skills I didn’t have before. With everyday of work my confidence and capabilities grow a little more and it has allowed me to contribute more and more to the projects I’m assigned to.
Tell us the most interesting thing you have learnt or experienced in your time at Cundall
As part of my training, I’ve had the opportunity to attend site visits and see how our designs are brought to life. It’s always interesting to have a more practical idea of how designs are implemented, a great learning experience too.
