Gary joined Cundall in 2001 as an associate and became a partner later that year. He leads the London office’s structural engineering group, with particular responsibility for client account management, project and structural team management, quality assurance and CAD.
Having worked in the UK building industry for over 30 years, Gary’s experience covers the full range of multi-disciplinary engineering projects in both the public and private sectors across retail, education, healthcare, commercial, industrial, leisure and residential developments. This has included new build projects of the smallest scale as well as several over £200 million and refurbishment projects - many involving historic and listed buildings.
Gary also leads Cundall's expertise and work in the retail sector, which is where his key experience lies, having been involved in many significant shopping centre schemes throughout the UK over the past 15 years.
When not managing projects for clients, Gary has been known to undertake his own DIY refurbishment projects at home. He is also a seasoned traveller who enjoys exploring the cultures and architecture of other countries.
Gary is a chapter author for ICE Manual of Structural Design: Buildings - Chapter 8 "Typical design considerations for generic building types".
